This gritty science fiction novel is the story of the strangest triangle ever described.
Lona Kelvin was a naive orphan who at seventeen was the mother of one hundred children. Minner Burris was a space traveller whose butchered body had been taken apart piece by piece by aliens and replaced piece by piece not quite as it was. His eyes were not quite human eyes; his mouth did not quite have the symmetry of a human mouth. The third member of the triangle was the revolting Duncan Chalk, a vulture, carrion eater of other people's emotions, and exploiter of pain, fear, anger, hatred, jealousy and terror. His own body typified the appetites of the sick delight of the millions who watched his 'entertainments'. The man and the girl are thrown together by Chalk for his amusement and for the millions that follow his tragedies.
The inter-relationship of these three very strange people makes THORNS one of the most unusual science fiction novels ever published.
