In the introduction to Early Days, Silverberg writes that he wrote this story which was originally credited to Randall Garrett.
A six-man exploratory team lands on the planet Pollux V, and it's not long until they're attacked by a giant monster, and things go downhill from there. Those who have seen the movie Forbidden Planet might get a few echoes of that plot, though the resemblance is superficial.
