Readers new to Majipoor often ask what order is best to read the books. Silverberg
recommends reading them in the order they were written. I agree, and not just because
that's the order I read them in. It makes sense to introduce yourself to a new world
the same way it was invented, and there's nothing plot-wise that is lost by starting
later
in the planet's history.
In order of writing:
The Seventh Shrine(1998)
The Book of Changes(2003)
The Sorcerer's Apprentice(2004)
Internal chronological oder:
The Book of Changes
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
The Seventh Shrine
* - Note that Majipoor Chronicles consists of a number of
stories set in differing time periods ranging from before The Book
of Changes
to just before Lord Valentine's Castle, all tied
together by a framing narrative set between Lord Valentine's Castle
and Valentine Pontifex.
